PILLER and GIG Karasek sign project contract for the world’s most powerful industrial heat pump system

GIG Karasek delivers the world’s most powerful industrial heat pump system for BASF at the Ludwigshafen site. In this groundbreaking project, GIG Karasek acts as the EPC contractor and commissions Piller Blowers & Compressors to supply the required compressors.

PILLER’s specially developed VapoLine product line solidifies the company's position as a technological leader in the field of vapor (re-)compression. The 11 machines from PILLER, part of a series-connected steam compression system are a central element of GIG Karasek's CompriVAP technology.

Together, the two companies focus on the sustainable transformation of the industry. With their forward-looking and energy-efficient solutions, as well as years of experience, GIG Karasek and PILLER are established in the market and increasingly focus on heat recovery systems and heat pump technology for the process industry.

The BASF project aims to sustainably transform the steam supply in the production of formic acid at the Ludwigshafen site. The goal is to produce CO2-free steam and reduce greenhouse gas emissions resulting from production by 98%. This marks an important step in BASF's journey toward more environmentally friendly industrial chemical processes.
